A Level Fine Art

You will learn how to study artists’ work critically and use this to help develop
your own ideas, approaches and techniques. You will undertake work using a
range of media including oil painting.

Students will leave the course with both a qualification and a varied portfolio of
project work which can be taken to job or university interviews.

Entry Requirements
  • Grade 5 in GCSE Art
  • Grade 5 in GCSE English Language and/or Literature
  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths
Units studied
  • Component 1: Personal investigation, portfolio or practical work in response to a brief, scenario or stimulus
  • Component 2: You will produce a portfolio of preliminary studies and a 15-hour Controlled Test personal response.
Careers

Many students wishing to pursue art and design further could progress to a Pre-Degree Foundation Course in Art and Design followed by a University
Degree in the creative specialism of their choice. Such courses include Fine Art, Illustration, Textiles, Interior Design, Fashion Design, Product Design, Animation, Furniture Design, Jewellery Design, Computer Games Design, Theatre Design and Architecture.
